Individualised Living Options (ILO) Your Home, Your Way, on the Fraser Coast

ILO is all about living life on your terms — in your own space, with the right support around you. Whether you want to live independently at home, share with a trusted housemate, or stay with a host family, we’ll help you build a setup that actually works for you.
We’re not here to fit you into a box. We’re here to figure out what your ideal living situation looks like — then help you make it happen.

What Is ILO?

Individualised Living Options (ILO) is an NDIS support that gives you more choice and control over where and how you live. Unlike traditional shared supported accommodation, ILO is flexible — it’s built around you, not a standard house model.

Under ILO, you work with a support team to explore your options and design a living arrangement that suits your needs, your goals, and your lifestyle. There’s no one-size-fits-all here. Some people live independently at home with drop-in support. Others choose to live with a host or share with one or two trusted housemates. Some combine different types of support throughout the week.
The key? You’re in the driver’s seat.
ILO is available to NDIS participants whose goals include greater independence and a more personalised living arrangement. If you’re not sure whether ILO or SIL is the right fit for your situation, the best starting point is a conversation — we’ll help you work through what makes sense for you.

How can ILO be set up?

Why Choose FCDS for ILO in Hervey Bay?

We’ve built our entire approach around the idea that support should fit the person — not the other way around. ILO is where that philosophy really comes to life. There’s no template we’re working from, no default arrangement we’re trying to fit you into. We start with your goals, your preferences, and your life — and we build from there.
Our team covers Hervey Bay, Maryborough, and the wider Fraser Coast, which means your support is genuinely local. We know the community, we know the services available nearby, and we know how to connect the dots for you.
For families who are relocating to the Fraser Coast from Brisbane or the Sunshine Coast, ILO can be a great option to explore before you arrive — particularly if the participant is ready for a more independent living arrangement in their new community. Get in touch before moving day and we’ll have an honest conversation about what’s possible.

Why Choose Us?

We’re local, we’re real and we genuinely care about getting this right for you.

As a small, community-based team on the Fraser Coast, we’re not managing hundreds of people from a head office somewhere else. We know our participants, we know our community, and we take pride in creating living arrangements that actually support people to thrive.

We’ll take the time to understand your world, connect you with the right support people, and walk alongside you through the whole process.

Frequently asked questions

01. What is the difference between ILO and SIL?

SIL (Supported Independent Living) is typically a shared living arrangement with support workers rostered across the house. ILO (Individualised Living Options) is a more flexible, bespoke model — it’s designed entirely around one person’s goals and preferences rather than a standard house setup. ILO gives you more choice over where you live and who you live with. Both are available through FCDS — call us and we’ll help you work out which is the better fit.

ILO is available to NDIS participants whose plans include funding for supported living arrangements. Eligibility is determined by the NDIA during your planning process. Your support coordinator or plan manager can help you understand whether ILO is likely to be funded in your situation — and we’re happy to have a conversation with you too.
Give Josie a call on 0418 22 84 52 or send us a message through the contact page. We’ll sit down with you, talk through your goals and your current situation, and work out together what an ILO arrangement could look like for you. There’s no commitment required to have that first conversation.
Yes and we’d encourage it. If you’re relocating to the Fraser Coast with an existing NDIS plan, reaching out before moving day gives us time to understand your needs and have a support arrangement ready when you arrive. Call us at any stage of your planning and we’ll work around your timeline.
